No Win No Fee? What does this mean?

No Win No Fee means when a firm takes on your claim for compensation, it will not charge you a fee for their time and effort if the claim is unsuccessful. In the event that a No Win No Fee case is lost, the solicitor will be unable to claim his/her fees from either the third party or his/her own client and must effectively write them off. The only time charges may apply is if the client decides to stop using the services of the solicitor after the 14 day cooling off period.

Do I have to pay a fee if I win my claim?

When you have been successful in your claim the other sides insurance usually cover all your costs including solicitor’s costs and the compensation you are awarded. Your assigned solicitor is able to explain this fully before your claim starts and you WILL keep MAXIMUM compensation.

How much time do I have to claim after an accident has occurred?

You have 3 years in which to lodge your claim in court. If you were under the age of 18 when you sustained your injuries then the 3-year period starts when you turn 18 (16 in Scotland ). Injuries Assist advises you to seek advice as soon as possible.

Can my employer dismiss me if I make a claim for an accident that happened at work?

Your employer cannot end your employment for claiming compensation for an accident at work. If this is the case then it could amount to unfair dismissal. By law your employer has to take out insurance cover for staff accidents and it is your employers insurance company who pays your compensation and NOT your employer.
